Flu Shots

You can take a few simple steps to protect yourself and the people around you from the flu: Wash your hands often with soap and water, cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough, stay home if you feel sick, and get your flu shot from the Norwalk Health Department! Everyone older than 6 months old is recommended to get a flu shot every year.

The Health Department has scheduled an extra flu clinic on Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Otherwise, walk-in hours for flu shots are held on Tuesdays from 1 pm – 3 pm at the Health Department (137 East Avenue), while supplies last. No appointment is necessary during these hours, but please call ahead to make sure vaccine is available. Please note that the Health Department is closed on on Federal holidays.

Standard seasonal flu shots cost $25 per person. The high-dose flu vaccine, available to clients age 65 and older, costs $50 per person. Both types of flu shots are covered by Medicare Part B, Medicaid, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, ConnectiCare, and United. Please bring all your insurance cards with you. Otherwise, we accept cash, check, and credit cards for payment. No one will be turned away at flu clinics, regardless of their ability to pay, while supplies of the vaccine last.

Worksite Flu Clinics

In addition to flu clinics that are open to the public, the Health Department also provides flu clinics at worksites for employers who want to provide this valuable benefit to their employees. Call for details.
