Present: Board of Health - Mr. Lalime, Ms. Lemmon, Dr. McNamara, and Dr. Tracey
Staff – Mr. Callahan & Mr. Perillo
A motion to approve the minutes January 14, 2003 meeting was made by Mr.Lalime seconded by Dr. Tracey and passed unanimously.
Budget Review
Mayor requested Department heads prepare FY 04 budget reduction scenarios of 4%, 6%, 8%, and 10%. Mr. Callahan reviewed the plan he prepared with the assistance of senior managers.
Personnel – Nurse Practitioner position
As reported at the January 14, 2003 meeting the Health Director has requested that the Common Council include the Nurse Practitioner position in the City’s Organizational Chart for the Health Department. The Personnel Committee, a sub group of the Common Council recommended approving this item at their February 2003 meeting. At the ensuing Common Council meeting this matter was referred back to the Personnel Committee. Action on this item will not be taken until after the FY04 budget is finalized.
Smallpox Clinic Preparations
Mr. Callahan and Mr. Perillo provided an update on planning for mass vaccination clinics. To date 1 member of the advance team was vaccinated. The Health Department will serve as a monitoring site for vaccinees. Various clinic sites were discussed. Recruitment of volunteers to staff the clinics was also discussed.
