Mayor Moccia called the meeting to order at 5:05 P.M.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING FEBRUARY 7, 2007
** MR. WELLS MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 7, 2007.
** MR. KERSHNER SECONDED THE MOTION.
** THE MOTION WAS PASSED WITH FIVE IN FAVOR (Arcario, Wells, Hempstead, Beggan, Sutton) AND TWO ABSTENTIONS (Kershner, Burnett).
A. NORWALK HIGH SCHOOL
1. Project update - by Amar Shamas (Program Manager)
Mr. Shamas gave his update and stated the majority of the project was on schedule except for a problem with the cooling towers that had yet to be installed.
2. REVIEW ONLY, CHANGES APPROVED BY STAFF:
PCO#00029 $33,324.67 INCREASE GMP COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH UPGRADES TO PROJECT COOLING TOWERS
PCO#00029 $10,000.00 CM CONTINGENCY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH UPGRADES TO PROJECT COOLING TOWERS
The listed changes were reviewed by the committee.

B. TRACEY AND COLUMBUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
1. REVIEW URS REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION AT TRACEY AND COLUMBUS SCHOOLS,
AND REFER THE FOLLOWING TO COMMON COUNCIL FOR APPROVAL:
“AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR, RICHARD A. MOCCIA, TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO URS CORPORATION’S
CONTRACT FOR THE COLUMBUS AND TRACEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
SERVICES DURING THE DESIGN PHASE AS FOLLOWS: TRACEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE
AMOUNT OF $ 9,083.00 (ACCT. # 09045010-5777-B0311) AND COLUMBUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 14,685.00 (ACCT. #09045010-5777-B0314).”
The request was reviewed by the committee to clarify the need for the request.
** MR. HEMPSTEAD MADE A MOTION TO TABLE THE FOLLOWING:
1) “AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR, RICHARD A. Mr. Shamas gave a brief update of the progress that had been made on Roton Middle School.
D. PONUS RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
1. Project update - by Amar Shamas (Program Manager)
Mr. Shamas gave an update of the progress that had been made on Ponus Ridge Middle School.
E. NATHAN HALE MIDDLE SCHOOL
1. Project update - by Amar Shamas (Program Manager)
Mr. Shamas gave an update of the progress that had been made on Nathan Hale Middle School.
IV. NATHANIEL ELY CENTER
A. Project update: By Alan Lo
Mr. Lo gave an update on the progress of the Nathaniel Ely Center. He outlined a problem with asbestos in the roof that had delayed the instillation of new windows.
B. Change Orders with W&M Construction
1. Review and approve the following change orders:
PCO #28 $18,866.75 Increase GMP Additional cost for toddler new playground.
Mr. Lo explained why the additional money was needed for the toddler playground.

The changes were reviewed by the committee.
V. MISCELLANEOUS ITEM(S)
1) The Mayor gave an update on the Norwalk High Advisory Committee.
2) The Mayor requested that, as the projects are completed, the accounts be finalized in order to allow for a final dollar figure to be determined. This will help in settling any possible future legal claims. After everything is settled. This will allow surplus funds to be transferred back to the city for other projects.
3) Mr. Lo reminded the committee that the concession stand at Brian McMahon had been torn down due to construction. A RFP to replace the building has been advertised with a deadline in two weeks. When more information is available it will be presented to the commission.
