Follow Up on School Physicals
Mr. Callahan spoke with Larry Cross, Interim Executive Director at the Norwalk
Community Health Center about working together to coordinate school entry physicals.
Mr. Cross indicated his interest in devising a solution that provides better
service and maximizes revenue. Mr. Cross suggested including the School Based
Health Centers. A plan will be worked on during the early part of 2006 and presented
to the Board in the Spring of 2006.
Personnel
Sbnam Gill is the new WIC Program Coordinator. Ms. Gill has 12 years experience
with WIC Program in New York. Keystene Spencer, the part time Program Nutritionist,
was moved to full time status.
The AFSCME and NMEA unions filed unfair labor practice charges against Mr. Callahan for his role in promoting the Norwalk New Canaan Health District. The unions claimed Mr. Callahan coerced and intimidated employees in staff meetings. At a hearing Saranne Murray, Esq., the City’s Labor Counsel, clearly pointed out that the alleged charges of coercive behavior on Mr. Callahan’s part were actually a recitation of facts about the financial and operational aspects of the proposed health district. The unions withdrew the charges.
Hurricane Relief – Bill Mooney, RS
Bill Mooney, the Emergency Response Coordinator, volunteered to assist the American
Red Cross in their relief efforts in Louisiana. Mr. Mooney spent 14 days working
in Louisiana. Mr. Mooney recounted his experiences.
