APRIL 17, 2003

ATTENDANCE: Stephen Papadokos, Chairman; Mariusz Kossarski;

The Chairman opened the meeting at 7:38 p.m.

The Chairman introduced the newest member of the Commission, Mr. Josh Kammerman. Mr. Kammerman gave a brief overview of his background and stated that by serving on the Commission he felt he would be giving something back to the community.

APPROVAL - MINUTES OF JANUARY 16, 2003

The following corrections were made to the minutes:

Steven Papadakos should be changed to Steve throughout the document.
Art Scialabba should be changed to Vice Chairman.
Mr. Charles Stabinsky should be changed to Dr. Charles Stabinsky throughout.
Barbara Amadio should be changed to Barbara Amodio throughout.
Page 3, paragraph 1: First sentence and second sentences: Ms. Papadakos first thanked Mr. Scialabba for his efforts on improving the website. He then went on to state that he and Ms. Devitt had attended the Affordable Housing Forum of January 6, 2003.
Page 3: First paragraph: Mr. Papadakos then read a letter dated December 13, 2002, that
he wrote to Ms. Sara LaTourneau, Director of Personnel. The purpose of the letter was to inquire if the Personnel department had found a candidate to replace Ms. Devitt, as her last day would be February 3, 2003.
Page 3: First paragraph: Last sentence: Mr. Papadakos also mentioned that Ms. Romano had written a very flattering and touching letter about Ms. Devitt's retirement, which had been published in the January 11, 2003 edition of The Hour.
Page 3: Third paragraph: Mr. Papadakos announced that at the last Common Council meeting, Mr. Nate Shipp was reappointed as Chairman of the Fair Housing Commission.

MS. ROMANO MOVED APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY 16, 2003 MINUTES AS AMENDED.
MR. KOSSARSKI SECONDED.
MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

The Chairman stated that there was an interesting article in The Hour on February 12, 2003 relating to the Board of Education's Committee meeting to ensure racial and cultural balance in the school population.

EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR CASE REVIEW

MS. ROMANO MOVED TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION.
MR. DUPERVIL SECONDED.
MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

The Chairman moved into Executive Session at 8:00 p.m.

The Chairman reconvened the meeting at 8:35 p.m.

OLD BUSINESS

Fair Housing Representative's Report

The Chairman stated that he had good news that the Dodds vs. Dreamy Hollow was closed and they have complied with the request of attending sensitivity training with the Fair Housing Officer of the City, Margaret Suib.

The Chairman reported that at the Fair Housing Commission meeting they set a new policy relating to absences at meetings. He stated that if a Commissioner misses three consecutive meetings, a letter will be sent to the Chairman of the Commission they represent informing them of their absenteeism.

MR. SCIALABBA MOVED TO TABLE THE BLUE RIBBON COMMISSION STATUS REPORT UNTIL THE NEXT MEETING.
MR. DUPERVIL SECONDED.
MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.

NEW BUSINESS

There was no new business to report

The Chairman closed the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
