INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

July 6, 2005

ATTENDANCE: Larry Manzi, Karen Del Vecchio, Dave Lepus, Frank Sarno, Hal Alvord, Tom Hamilton, Tom Schladich, Al Kao, Ed Schmidt, Dave Wrinn, Gerald Foley.

Meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm

Minutes of the June 29, 2005 meeting were reviewed, and the minutes were unanimously approved.

City Telephone Solution Status: Karen Del Vecchio said test was done this morning and several issues were resolved at Police. We are still working on minor issues at both McMahon. Invoice was received and still reconciling invoice.

RCC: Police Station & McMahon: RCC not present.

Status of Cabling RFP: Karen Del Vecchio said that Peter Berry will have the drawings ready by the end of this week. Hal Alvord asked what drawings Peter is working from. Karen said the paper drawings. Hal stated that the mylar drawings might be more accurate. There was a discussion about the drawings and timing of getting the RFP out on time. Gerald Foley said there were several issues with the bid last time. Dave Lepus asked about the status of the communications study and Ed Schmidt responded by saying that it was authorized and Mike Dolhancryk will be having a kick-off meeting.

Status of MAN: Karen Del Vecchio said she is working with the Maritime Aquarium about connecting to the MAN. We also received the preliminary design from Joe Forren (DBO) and are working with Law department on the contract. There was a discussion on how to set up the agreements for the Hospital, Aquarium and Transit District.

Training: no update.

Customer Service Center: Hal Alvord said things are moving along and coming into place. The latest scope of work is being reviewed.

Miscellaneous/New Items: Hal Alvord said they have been testing 9 Nextel push to talk units throughout the city over the past 2 weeks and has heard that the coverage is good. Dave Wrinn said it has been his experience that the push to talk works great, but the cell phones have issues. Gerald Foley said it is an administrative nightmare to deal with Nextel when a replacement phone is needed. Ed Schmidt suggested having 2 contracts, one for push to talk and one for cell phones. Tom Hamilton suggested that we add cell phones to the ITT agenda.
