INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

July 27, 2005


ATTENDANCE: Larry Manzi, Karen Del Vecchio, Dave Lepus, Frank Sarno, Dave Wrinn, Chris Buswell, Tom Hamilton, Hal Alvord, Gerald Foley, David Wrinn, Mike Yeosock.



Meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm

Minutes of the July 13, 2005 meeting were reviewed, and the minutes were unanimously approved.

City Telephone Solution Status: Karen Del Vecchio said that the punch lists for McMahon and Police are being reviewed.

RCC: Police Station & McMahon: RCC not present.

Status of Cabling RFP: Karen Del Vecchio said that Peter Berry sent the drawings and they were reviewed and questions will be sent back to RCC. Some changes will have to be made directly on the drawings by hand.

Status of MAN: Karen Del Vecchio said she received an update from Joe Forren (DBO). We are still on track for October. Fibertech has started ariel build and has done installations in several buildings. All equipment has been ordered. DBO wants to setup test lab at City Hall next week to demonstrate the network. DBO has everything they need to go ahead with Phase 2 and they are set to do internal splices at several locations. Contract for wireless portion of the MAN has been signed.

Training: no update.

Customer Service Center: Hal Alvord said that more information is needed by the law department, and that an offer has been made for the 2nd position of customer service rep who will start on August 15th. Karen Del Vecchio stated that the server for customer service will be setup by the end of the week.

Miscellaneous/New Items:
Law Department Contract Management Software: The Mayor has requested for the IT Department to research a way to help the Law Department better manage their contracts. The IT Department has nothing in-house that will handle this so several contract management packages were reviewed and the Law department will receive demos to decide on which product would work best.

Cellphones and ITT communications: Karen Del Vecchio said that Mike Dolhancryk wants to get blackberries from nextel (who offered us the BEZ software for free) for $99/each. We would still have to pay for licenses and would need a new server.Gerald Foley stated that he was working with nextel about getting prices for pooling the minutes. There was discussion on push-to-talk, and the different options with and without cell service, and the needs of departments.
