TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

ATTENDANCE: Larry Manzi, Karen Del Vecchio, Dave Lepus, Frank Sarno, Dave
Wrinn, Gerald Foley, Paula Palermo, Tom Schadlich
Meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm
Minutes of the July 27, 2005 meeting were reviewed, and the minutes were unanimously approved.
City Telephone Solution Status: Ed Toth said that the duplicate IP problem was resolved and we still need to decide on what to do with the firewall. There will be a meeting with John Hawley and ATT in the coming weeks. Dave Wrinn said that he has concerns about the phone system because system was down all day and troubleshooting was an issue, as well as the fact that we have no maintenance contract. The issue was caused by Telsource making changes to the system. Dave Lepus stated that the Fire Dept. need the wiring done within the buildings or they will not be able to use the new fiber connection. There was discussion on temporary ways for Fire to connect.
RCC: Police Station & McMahon: RCC not present.
Status of Cabling RFP: Karen Del Vecchio said that the RFP will be released tomorrow. Peter Berry will be back in to do another walk-thru. The drawings were not accurate and some changes to departments were not represented in the drawings.
Status of MAN: Karen Del Vecchio said she received an update from Joe Forren (DBO) who will be in next week with the equipment and he will provide a demo to the ITT committee. DBO wants to setup test lab at City Hall next week to demonstrate the network.. We are still on track for October. Phase 2 permits have been applied for.
Training: There was a general discussion about spam and Karen Del Vecchio asked Paula Palermo if she can introduce a new course that deals with email rules and filtering.
Customer Service Center: Karen Del Vecchio stated that the server for customer service is built and the contract went out today.
Miscellaneous/New Items:
Law Department Contract Management Software: Karen Del Vecchio said that CCM’s
feedback was that no large cities use any type of contract management software
for their Law Department, but she will ask them to broaden the scope. A demo
was also given to the Diane and it will be loaded on her pc for her to try.
Cellphones and ITT communications: Karen Del Vecchio said nextel has a promotion for ½ price blackberries and 20 BEZ licenses. All info was sent to Mike Dolhancryk. There was a discussion about why the BEZ server was needed.
MUNIS Version 2004/ SQL upgrade and migration project.: Karen Del Vecchio
said that finance has asked up to move the the current release of MUNIS asap.
We are also looking to migrate off the SCO UNIX platform to a Window platform.
Consent Calendar: none.
For Informational Purposes:
PC and printer inventory, desktop refresh schedule: Sapphire (summer intern)
is doing a complete inventory of all PC’s and printers, once this is done
we will look at the desktop refresh again. Karen Del Vecchio explained the
Parks and Recreation Software that is being purchased from Vermont Systems,
It should be ready for January registrations.
