INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

October 12, 2005


ATTENDANCE: Karen Del Vecchio, Larry Manzi, Frank Sarno, David Lepus, Chris Buswell, Gerald Foley, Kevin Poruban, Tom Schadlich, Tom Hamilton, Ed Schmidt


Meeting was called to order at 3:05 PM.

The minutes from the October 5th meeting were approved.

Status of Telephone Solution: Peter Berry said they had a conference with AT&T today to push the contract forward. They reviewed and resolved most the the 23 issues, they will be meeting again on Friday and next week to determine the master plan. There is no contract for maintaining the police and mcmahon phone systems.

RCC: Status of Police Station & McMahon projects - Peter Berry said the relocation of phone system equipment to the Police department needs to be done. There are still some punch list items to go over. We are moving towards the start of Phase 2 by year end.

Status of Cabling RFP: Peter Berry said that there was a meeting with the low bidder this morning. They gave us the components, materials, timeline and testing procedures to the satisfaction of all. Karen Del Vecchio handed out a letter requesting the ITT committee review and approve so this item can be moved on to the finance committee. Tom Hamilton move to approve items 1.a and 1.b, Ed Schmidt seconded, all were in favor.

Status of MAN: Karen Del Vecchio said the Joe Forran will be testing the southern loop of Phase 1 here on Friday in the City IT data center. The fiber is lit for all schools in Phase 1. Phase 2 is on target for spring 2006.

Training: no update.

Customer Service Center: Karen Del Vecchio said that the installation is complete on the workorder side, but we still have training and interface creation to be completed.

Miscellaneous/New Items:
Law Department Contract Management Software: Karen Del Vecchio said that the IT Dept. is working on the RFP and will then pass on to the Law Dept.

Cell phones and ITT communications: No update.

MUNIS Version 2004/ upgrade: Karen Del Vecchio made a request into Munis so we can get a date in December. We are waiting on the equipment.

Web Sites Privacy Policy: Karen Del Vecchio said today was the deadline to get in comments/updates to the proposed policy. Gerald Foley said he will send in his changes after this meeting.

GPS tracking system for DPW and other vehicles: Ed Schmidt said the police captain system (public safety database) can be used for GPS system and the Fire Department can also use the GPS. There was a discussion about GPS for Police, Fire, DPW and Parks and Recreation.


Consent Calendar:
a: Authorize the Purchasing agent to issue purchase orders for a Canon CanoScan 8400F scanner for an amount not to exceed $140.00, account 010600-5741 (IT) (Norwalk Public Library Ref. Dept.)
Gerald Foley asked why we were not purchasing the standard copiers. Tom S. said they have issues with them and wanted to try something different.
Chris Buswell motioned to approve, Tom S. seconded and Gerald Foley opposed

For Informational Purposes: IT Department Project Portfolio:
Karen Del Vecchio handed out a long list of Current IT Projects. Karen said we have too many projects going on and will not be taking on any new projects until some of these are completed.

Karen Del Vecchio said that she and Frank Sarno viewed a web based health dept. application yesterday.
The health department invited them to view the demo and will be using grant money to do a pilot program.
