INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

October 19, 2005


ATTENDANCE: Karen Del Vecchio, Larry Manzi, Frank Sarno, David Lepus, Chris Buswell, Gerald Foley, Dave Wrinn, Tom Schadlich, Tom Hamilton


Meeting was called to order at 3:10 PM.

The minutes from the October 12th meeting were approved.

Status of Telephone Solution: Karen Del Vecchio said she has received an update from Peter Berry, and he said they are today to push the contract forward. They reviewed and resolved most of the 23 issues, with on 2 outstanding issues and they met to determine the master plan. There is no contract for maintaining the police and McMahon phone systems. December 4th is the tentative date to move over the call manager.

RCC: Status of Police Station & McMahon projects - Peter Berry’s update said Phase 2 planning is continuing and RCC will produce a list of phones that need to be moved.

Status of South Norwalk Library Project: April 1st 2006 is the target date. Tom Hamilton asked about the IT equipment and the scheduling of installation of the equipment. Tom S. stated that the budgeted money for furniture and IT equipment was taken back and they are doing fund raising to get money for these items.

Status of Cabling RFP: Approved by the finance committee and headed to the common council on Tuesday.

Status of MAN: Peter Berry’s report said that phase 1 will go live on October 24th, 2005. Karen Del Vecchio said that fiber needs to be run from the third floor to the second floor. Quote came in at over $3000.00 and we will be getting another quote.

Training: Frank Sarno said that only 2 people from code enforcement went to training and he will follow up with Bill Ireland.

Customer Service Center: Frank Sarno said that he is attempting to populate the customer service database with the patriot database fields. The data is inconsistent in the patriot database.

Miscellaneous/New Items:
Law Department Contract Management Software: No update.

Cell phones and ITT communications: There was a request from Mike Dolhancryk for 5 blackberries. Karen Del Vecchio game him an estimated cost of added the 5. Gerald Foley discussed the service provided by each vendor and the timing of purchasing new blackberries with push to talk and the existing contract of the old blackberries.

MUNIS Version 2004/ upgrade: Karen Del Vecchio said that the server is in and the power in the data center has been installed. We are still waiting on the operating system software.

GPS tracking system for DPW and other vehicles: Dave Wrinn said that the state is issuing an RFP for AVL to work with the Captain system and it would include the Police, Fire, DPW.

Consent Calendar:
Motion to adopt the City Web Sites Privacy Policy: Karen Del Vecchio said the final version was attached to the agenda, Tom Hamilton moved to approve, Chris Buswell seconded, all were in favor.
