TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

ATTENDANCE: Karen Del Vecchio, Larry Manzi, Frank Sarno, David Lepus, Joe
Forran, Hal Alvord , Tom Hamilton, Terrence Morris
Meeting was called to order at 3:10 PM.
The minutes from the October 19th meeting were approved.
Status of Telephone Solution: Karen Del Vecchio said she met
with Diane at
Law for finalizing the contract. Still two issues, one was incorporated with
parts of the state contract , and the other insurance issue will be incorported
also.
RCC: Status of McMahon project - Ed Toth, December schedule is set and project is moving along fine.
Status of South Norwalk Library Project: Considering having main library CEN service terminate at City Hall.
Status of Cabling RFP: No update.
Status of MAN: Joe Forran gave update on MAN, city is up on MAN and will soon be cut over to the LANs, BOE has been up for 1 1/2 weeks and they have been cut over on all the LANs. Only had one glitch at McMahon, but it has been resolved. Still need firewall between internet and BOE. Karen Del Vecchio said there is some IP addressing to be done at Volk. Terrance Morris said they can get Volk running on the switch. There was discussion on what is needed to get Volk up. Police and Transit District still need to be cut over, Joe said he is ready to cut them over. Everything is working well. Still waiting for update from Fibertech for Phase 2. Karen Del Vecchio said some parts of Phase 2 can come up earlier, but that might be an issue with billing. Dave Wrinn said the Police voice cut over needs to be done before December 2nd. Police data can be cut over at any time. November 3rd at 9:00 am was suggested by Dave Wrinn to cut over data. Monitoring is setup for BOE. City firewall can be cut over to 515e when we are ready.
Training: No Update.
Customer Service Center: Hal Alvord said all installations are completed and we are now live on the database thanks to Frank Sarno. Training for staff started today and went well, training will continue next week. Larry Manzi is working with Connie Blair to get the top 20 FAQ's received at customer service posted on the web site.
Miscellaneous/New Items:
Law Department Contract Management Software: No update.
Cell phones and PTT communications: No Update.
MUNIS Version 2004/ upgrade: Karen Del Vecchio said that Gerald sent out the P.O. for the operating system. Power was put in by building management. IT department is ready to setup server once the operating system is received.
GPS tracking system for DPW and other vehicles: No Update.

Karen said that she and Larry Manzi have been working with the norwalk museum
designing the website and Larry has spent a lot of time creating it. It is
close to completion and it will be reviewed by the Historical Commission tonight.
Hal Alvord said that he was working on getting the DPW web site redone, and has met will Larry to discuss.
Ed Toth said they need two new 48 port switches for Kendall School for $6,500.00. Tom Hamilton motioned to approve the switches, and Dave Lepus seconded. All were in favor.
Frank Sarno asked about the status of First Look Pro. There was discussion on where the $15,000.00 is coming from because it is not funded according to Tom Hamilton. Dave Wrinn said they are looking at integration into a public safety database.
