TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

January 18, 2006
ATTENDANCE: Terry Morris, Gerald Foley, Karen Del Vecchio, Peter Berry, Dave
Wrinn, Larry Manzi, Dave Lepus, Paula Palermo, Frank Sarno, Chris Buswell,
Ralph Valencia, Tom Schadlich, Mike Yeosock.
Meeting was called to order at 3:05 PM.
The minutes from the January 4th meeting were approved.
Status of Telephone Solution: Karen Del Vecchio said call to AT&T went in and they are working on the contract. Project Manager will be in touch with Karen after she discusses this with her boss.
RCC: Status of McMahon project: Phase 2 move punch list went over to Ed Toth. We are short seven phones. Waiting for statement of work for moving the call manager. RCC will be in next week to give a full report
Status of South Norwalk Library Project: no updates
Status of Cabling RFP: Karen Del Vecchio said contract went out to vendor and vendor signed. Must now go through the mayor’s office.
Status of MAN: Terrance Morris said he has all four bids for cabinet installation. They were all under $10,000. A P.O. can be issued to the lowest bidder.
Training: Paula Palermo said DPW would have some custom training. She put out two dates for courses. Frank Sarno said Human Relations might need some Access training or custom software.
Customer Service Center: Switch for DPW garage is needed, network is very slow according to Mike Yeosock.
Miscellaneous / New:
a. Cell phones and PTT communications RFI. Gerald Foley said the health department
is now testing the new phones. Has received positive feedback for the departments
that have tested them.
b. MUNIS Version 2004 upgrade project. Frank Sarno is working with Munis and
they said they prefer to do the installation. A date will be scheduled for
them to install the OS.
c. SBC local/long distance (dial tone services) contract expiring June 30,
2006. Gerald said he had three submissions, and they were distributed. A meeting
will be set up to discuss.
d. Grant for DSL and firewall for Health Department: Terrance said he has
two bids to install internet access at the Health Department.
e. NextGen CAD to Firehouse software interface (Combined Dispatch): Dave Wrinn
said it is installed, but the case numbers between police and fire are different
and it needs to be worked out between the police and fire departments. Issues
with data in PREP and Firehouse software.
f. Telstaff implementation: Meeting scheduled for this Friday
at 10:00 am.
g. Blackberry Service Expansion : Karen spoke with cingular rep, they will
waive the $3000 software fee if we get 10 blackberries. Waiting to hear back
from Mike Dolhancryk.
New units are push to talk ready and we are looking for buy backs for existing
units.
h. Norwalk Public Schools request (req # 00650024) of 1/9/06 for the purchase
of 112 Dell PCs and 112 copies of Microsoft Office Pro 2003 for an amount
of $104,913.76, capital account #09045010-5777-C0112. Ralph Valencia said
that they are to fill Brien McMahon’s academic labs. Chris Buswell said that
someone should look into the price to see if we can do better.
2. Consent Calendar
a. Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a Purchase Order to ASAP Software
for 7 licenses of Adobe Acrobat v7.0 and 1 media disk for the Law Department
for an amount not to exceed $1,579.63, State of CT contract 012-A-24-7067-C,
account 010600-5742. (IT)
Tom S. motioned to approve, Dave Wrinn seconded, all were in favor, and non-opposed.
3. For Informational Purposes
Statement of work for asset disposal is being worked on by Karen Del Vecchio.
We will not be meeting next week, and the next meeting with
be February 1, 2006 at 3pm
