TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

ATTENDANCE: Gerald Foley, Larry Manzi, Dave Lepus, Paula Palermo, Frank Sarno,
Chris Buswell, Tom Schadlich, Karen Del Vecchio, Joe Forran, Ralph Valenzisi,
Dave Wrinn, Peter Berry (via conference call), Jeff Tamborino
Meeting was called to order at 3:09 PM.
The minutes from the April 19th meeting were approved.
Status of Telephone Solution: Karen Del Vecchio said she received the statement of work for Sono library from AT&T. Deadline was missed so it will not go to the NFCC committee this week. Price was $23,000. Frank Sarno asked how competitive the price is. Also the revised statement of work for the move of the call manager was for $6,500. It was sent back with 2 requests to test going in to SRST and coming back from SRST. Dave Wrinn asked if we could have Joe Forran oversee the project.
RCC: Status of McMahon project: Peter Berry said he has meeting to discuss the last 30 phones. Also has meeting to discuss their firewall and wireless connectivity. There was discussion on if AT&T will warranty their design. Locations for access points were located strategically and will provide the coverage that they need. Peter will provide a spreadsheet for the phones. Punch list was cleaned up for the most part.
Status of South Norwalk Library Project: Tom S. said the VoIP phone system needs to be installed. And construction will be completed by the end of next week. Also we need to get both library’s connected to CEN. There was discussion on what rack to use. Dave Wrinn said that he has an old 2-post rack they can use. Peter Berry said the equipment at the Library might not be able to handle the 10 central link lines.
Status of Cabling project: Frank Sarno said we are looking at quotes for running fiber from City Hall data center to the Health Department 2nd floor. Quotes will be evaluated. Pots lines for security are being looked at. Peter Berry said we should look into changing the security panel to have one phone line. There are also questions about the paging system for the health department.
Status of MAN: Joe Forran said they did a hot cut on inner city
ring, inserted several locations without a problem. Tested each location and
it is working fine. Yesterday installed 5 BOE School sites and when connected
it will complete the BOE part. Fire station 1 and 4 will be connected tomorrow.
Police marine base, rowayton fire station and fire station 5 will be finished
this week, Library will be finished next week. Everything is on schedule and
on budget and should be finished by the end of next week. Dave Wrinn asked
whom we could get to configure the phones at the marine base. Peter Berry
said marine base was not in the initial proposal and AT&T should do this.
Training: no update.
Customer Service Center: no update
Miscellaneous / New:
a. MUNIS Version 2005.01 upgrade project.: June 7th is date of Munis upgrade. Munis will be creating new db and version next week as a test. A new client will need to be installed on each user. We are also looking to get Munis in for training in the new system.
b. Network infrastructure analysis: Frank Sarno said tomorrow our network
would be reviewed and analyzed by DBO. Our IP addressing scheme will need
to be changed.
c. BOE request for 13 dell poweredge servers: (see attached). Ralph V. said
servers are for all 12 elem. Schools and Briggs. They are just servers not
monitors etc. Money is coming from Capital budget. Old servers are not needed.
These servers are for applications running locally at the schools. Chris Buswell
said the price is very high. He can get pricing about $800 less. Dave Wrinn
motioned to approve and forward on to the Land Use committee pending price
checking their servers.

Dave Lepus asked the status of Firehouse Enterprise version. Frank Sarno said
he just received it in this week and it will be done in May. We will not be
meeting next week, and the next meeting is May 17th, 2006 at 3pm
