TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 15, 2007
ATTENDANCE: Karen Del Vecchio, Dave Lepus, Dave Ross, Larry Manzi, Ralph Valenzisi, Frank Sarno, Paula Palermo, Mike Yeosock, Tom Schaldich, Hal Alvord, Jeff Nyland and Lisa Lennon from Total communications, Gerald Foley
Meeting called to order at 3:06 pm.
1. August 1, 2007 Meeting Minutes: approved.
2. Status of City Telephone Solution: Total Communications provided an update
to the Committee. All equipment is in place at City Hall except for 18 phones.
All switches are up, directories are in, mailboxes with be built today. High
School has construction related roadblocks. UPS need to be exchanged for BOE
and Health. There was discussion on how users would setup phone and when training
will be done for users. Frank Sarno said that all analog phones are being
located. Lisa said we need to find out all the unknown lines. Cutover is September
7th 2007 at 5pm. Auto attendant scripts are being created. Special scripts
are being created for customer service and emergency.
3. BOE: Status of Norwalk High Phase 1: Norwalk High is not completed, and
construction is slow.

5. Miscellaneous/New Items
a. Firehouse software upgrade: Dave Ross is testing upgrade of database. Just
CAD monitoring left to test.
b. Health Dept clinical and environmental system search: No update.
c. Weighmaster System Replacement (DPW): Hal Alvord said evaluation of weighmaster
is going to be given to consultant.
d. Permit Manager System Replacement (DPW): Still looking at off the shelf
Permits systems.
e. GPS on all rolling stock (DPW) : RFP is out. A few firms have sent in questions.
f. Active Directory: Council approved $355,000 last night. Licensing will
be a large part of cost. Exchange needs to go thru two updates.
g. 2007/2008 Desktop Refresh Plan Status: Summer interns performed physical
inventory of entire building. We have around $90,000 for refresh. Will review
inventory to determine what hardware will be updated.
