Meeting was called to order at 1:12 PM.
The minutes from the July 7th meeting were approved unanimously.
Peter Berry said that the telephone Solution RFP list has been
trimmed from 7
to 6. They are waiting for the "Best and Final" proposal expected
back by the
middle of next week. He hopes to be able to make a recommendation three weeks
from today.
Peter mentioned that SBC on 07/29 will be replacing all 911
equipment. He had
no news to report on the MAN.
Joe Forren discussed alternate routes for some BOE sites on
the fiber ring. He
was also able to show how the Police Station will be connected. The projected
completion date where Police will be connected and operational is January
2005.
The date for Brien McMahon is February 2005. The connection to the transfer
station will be either wireless or a DSL connection
Hal Alvord recommended that the closing of the ring on the southern tip of
the
MAN should be done now to provide redundancy. The proposed configuration was
a
daisy chain type of connection.
There was a discussion about identifying appropriate department
contacts to
approve connections and location of equipment after reviewing sketches.
Hal mentioned that Lou Shulman from the Transit District would like to be
connected to the MAN and that there would be a mutual operational benefit
to
the sharing of resources.
Joe said he would have prices by next week for various connectivity options.
Paula Palermo gave two classes last Friday in PowerPoint and
Excel. In another
week from Friday, she will be conducting a Windows tune up class. She is also
working with Corp Counsel in the their switch from WordPerfect to Word. She
said
she will be able to borrow some laptops from the Library to assist in training
remote locations like the Fire House.
Gerald Foley said that the RFPs for the Customer Service Center
are due back
on 07/22. There was a general discussion of the project objectives. Karen
asked Hal what three things he would like to see out of the Center. Hal
indicated;
1 an immediate response to FAQ and/or cataloging of an issue
2 the ability to capture data and analyze complaints
3 a mechanism to respond to everyone that a job was completed
Karen said that Hylink has started to order equipment for the
backup/recovery
project. They will get back to us with cost and time estimates.
BOE didn't have a representative so the request for the Brien
McMahon
Photography classroom hardware and software was tabled.
The meeting adjourned at 2:25 PM.
Respectfully submitted
Frank Sarno
