TECHNOLOGY AND TELECOMMUNICATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Minutes of December 15th, 2004 were reviewed and the minutes were unanimously approved.
City Telephone Solution Status: Karen DelVecchio said that a
letter of intent was signed off with AT&T so that equipment can be procured.
Tom Hamilton asked about paging fire stations from combined dispatch. Mike
Dolhancryk said he has a future meeting with Northeastern and he will keep
us informed.
RCC: Police Station & McMahon: No updates, no new activity on Erate.
Status of Cabling RFP: No updates.
Status of MAN: Karen DelVecchio said the contract was going to DBO today to be countersigned.
Training: No update.
Customer Service Center: Karen DelVecchio said she will be meeting with Hal Alvord to finalize the implementation schedule.
Miscellaneous/New Items:
Registrar of Voters data conversion and network access: Registrars needed
access to but the city and the state network. Most of the data conversion
was finished, with the city data being converted to the state format because
the data was inconsistent between systems. Tom Hamilton mentioned that the
state deadline was January 7th, 2005.
Mike Dolhancryk asked about bidding for cellular services. There was then a brief discussion about the carriers and which had the best coverage in Norwalk. It was concurred that a needs assessment should be done.
Consent Calendar
1) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order to Northeastern
Communications for nine portable radios (H01KDC9AA3_N Motorola HT1000 Portable
– VHF, 16 Frequency, 5 Watt, Single Unit Compact Regular Rate Charger, Programming)
per Northeastern Communications quotation dated December 16, 2004, for an
amount not to exceed $11,416.50, account 013120-5341. FEMA grant will provide
$7,991.55 of funding toward this purchase. City portion is the balance of
$3,424.95.
Chris Buswell moved to approve and Tom Hamilton seconded, Non were opposed.

About the FEMA Grant on the above Consent Item: Dave Lepus: “Northeastern
Communications is currently our servicing agent, and is anticipated to maintain
that status in the future. These new portables will replace antiquated portables
now in service, resulting in all fire portables being Motorola HT1000. This
is an important safety consideration; identical operational controls with
full scanning capabilities. I spoke to Mike Dolhancryk today, he concurs that
this purchase meets our current radio needs. “
