DRAFT MINUTES
ATTENDEES: Mayor Alex Knopp, Planning Commission Chairman Walter Briggs, Redevelopment Agency Chairman Paul L. Jones, Timothy Sheehan, Jennifer Herring, Thomas Becker, Donna Schlegel, Tom Kies, Susan Jacoby, Sharon Anderson, Dorothy Mobilia, Ralph Kolb, Hal Alvord, Don Nelson, Mike Mocciae, Bill Taylor, Fred Bondi, Clay Fowler, Jennifer Hoff, Daryl Scott, Jessica Kaplan, John Pinto, Ed Schmidt, Alanna Kabel
Chairman Briggs opened the meeting at 5:15 pm, welcomed everyone, and presented introductory remarks.
Tim Sheehan, Executive Director of the Norwalk Redevelopment
Agency, presented an overview of Oyster Shell Park current conditions and
opportunities highlighted in the draft Mid-Harbor Planning Study. He presented
the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency’s plan to hire a park planner to examine
the utility infrastructure in Oyster Shell Park and to prepare an action plan
for the Park with plan options to come back before the Advisory Committee.
The Agency is currently working on the Request for Proposals with the City’s
Purchasing Department and expects to release it shortly.
Hal Alvord, Director of the Public Works, discussed the capping schedule.
Jennifer Herring, President and CEO of The Maritime Aquarium, presented the findings of the Maritime Aquarium’s “Discovering the Future” planning initiative. Future Maritime Aquarium desires of the participants include enhanced use of the Aquarium’s location on the river and more educational outreach to the community.
The Advisory Committee discussed a revised meeting schedule and decided to tentatively schedule the next meeting for May 17, 2005 and the following meeting for July 19, 2005. The future meeting schedule will be finalized with the Redevelopment Agency following the completion of the park planner request for proposal process.
