ATTENDANCE: Doug Sutton, Chairman; Fred Bondi; Matthew Miklavc.

OTHERS: Lou Ciccarello, Corporation Counsel.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 8:25 p.m. by the Chairman. There was not a quorum present.
DISCUSSION
LAW DEPARTMENT PROPOSAL FOR NEW PART TIME ASSISTANT CORPORATION COUNSEL
Attorney Ciccarello said that the position is needed. The cost will be $40,000. The person must be computer-literate and be able to type. This attorney would be an Ordinance employee, but if they hire a paralegal, that person would be a union member. There are three full time and two part time attorneys now. Attorney Sumberg handles code enforcement and tax revaluations, Attorney Beltz and Attorney Sumberg handle real estate and Attorney Lasberg handles ordinances and litigation. Attorney Ciccarello handles many federal cases and Attorney Spahr handles litigation.
Mr. Miklave asked if any consideration had been given to having one full time attorney for litigation rather than multiple part time people. Attorney Ciccarello said that Attorney Beltz intends to come back full time. The position they are looking for is only a two-year position. He said that Attorney Beltz is very valuable.
ACTION ON ITEM 2
The Chairman said he would forward this item to the Common Council.
