SECRETARY
Commissioner Casagrande discussed billing of Marine Division Constables for
hours worked for security and safety of cable laying project. Suggestion made
to Sgt LaPak to keep all those hours separate for separate billing later.
Sgt LaPak will check on agreement made prior to start of project.

HEALTH DEPT
Mr. Closter reports:
6.42 inches of rain in February vs .78 last year and average since 1987 of
2.45 inches. There were 219 calls in February. There was a partial closure
in the CAA area for over 1/2 inch of rain from 2/1 through 2/8 and 2/13 through
3/3. There was a complete closure from 2/1 to 2/8 and 2/13 to 2/23. There
were two notices of by-pass reported.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT

WATER QUALITY
Harbormaster Griffin reports Water Quality Committee still concerned with
by-pass events. Committee reinforces mission to broaden the understanding
of the local community and our valuable freshwater aquatic and marine environments
and maintain a dialogue with various local water quality and conservation
organizations and departments of the State and Federal Governments to improve
the quality of our waterways. Future discussions will center on the role of
the Water Pollution Control Authority.
PERMITS
Mr. Casagrande distributed tide charts.
POLICE
Sgt LaPak reports for February 18 hrs patrol, no arrests. Next project is
looking to replace red flags.
ADVISORY
Capt. Dave Hopp states water temperature is 39 degrees.
HARBOR MANAGEMENT
Harbormaster Mike Griffin reports three cables are laid from Northport to
Manresa. Cables buried from mid sound, 30-foot contour line south of Sheffield
outside of island. It took two shifts 6am to 6pm six days a week with heavy
winds to bury one cable. Preparations are being made for work inside of island
including silt containment. Contractor will remove 12 anchors as soon as final
jetting of cables inside islands and final survey complete. Work in mid sound
in NY stopped after January 31, 2008 as a result of flounder season. Safety
boat will patrol until work starts again May 1, 2008.
Harbormaster Griffin discussed dredging project and areas of concern. Approach to east basin, east basin and south anchorage with dredging to start October 1, 2008.
Motion made by Mr. Johnson, 2nd by Dr. Serena to accept committee reports.
