| PERMITS | Anyone may apply at an authorized permit seller, showing proof of residence. Persons 13 and older must have a proper adults permit. Children 12 and under must obtain a permit, must be accompanied by an adult holding a valid permit and can only contribute to an adults 1/2 bushel. |
| CONDITIONAL AREAS |
Areas designated by the aqua culture division of the state department
of agriculture as safe for shellfishing, except when closed by the state
or local health department. (see chart - only yellow highlighted areas are open.) ***Permit holders must call 203-838-9807 or 203-838-9436 before harvesting any shellfish. For current status of conditional areas*** (go to web site www.norwalkhealth.com) |
| PROHIBITED ACTS |
No shellfish shall be taken from closed area at any time, not even for bait. No shellfishing is permitted between sunset and sunrise. |
| LIMITS | No person shall take clam which will pass through a ring of 1 1/2 inch diameter, nor any oyster which will pass through a ring of 2 3/4 inch inside diameter. No person shall use any device which does not have a clear space between the teeth or prongs of one inch or more. |
| QUANTITY | Each permit holder is limited to 1/2 bushel of shellfish in any one day. |
