The Mission and Goals of the Norwalk AfterSchool Alliance

Our Mission
The Norwalk AfterSchool Alliance promotes quality out-of-school time program offerings that provide families a wide variety of affordable and accessible choices. The network of providers in Norwalk will provide:
Ø Academic support and homework help Ø Interesting and enriching activities for children
Ø Opportunities to learn about the Norwalk community, including its rich natural and cultural resources
Ø Exercise and athletic activities
Ø A safe environment where children can develop socially and emotionally

Our Goals *
Goal 1: Improve information and communications with families and schools
· Improve communication and dialog with parents, students and the public
· Improve communication with schools
· Facilitate communications between afterschool agencies

Goal 2: Improve the quality of out-of-school time offerings
· Establish common principles and standards subscribed to by Alliance members
· Provide training and staff development through workshops
· Provide increased academic support
· Provide opportunities for positive youth development through workshops and activities
· Facilitate increased parent interaction through workshops

Goal 3: Expand services and offerings
· Expand services in middle schools by researching and supporting enrichment activities.
· Expand services in elementary schools

Goal 4: Grow and Strengthen the Collaborative
· Increase funding and effective use of resources
· Continue to provide opportunities for networking and collaboration
· Obtain additional funding to improve existing programs, start and support new programs, and expand use of community resources
· Provide training and consulting support to address program finances
· Implement clear organizational structure
