Norwalk
Youth Services, a department of the City of Norwalk, is operated for
the purposes of evaluation, planning, coordination and implementation
of prevention and treatment services for youth. It also provides the
opportunity for youth to develop positively in order to function as
responsible members of the community.
The Department offers counseling and referral services on a voluntary, confidential, no-cost basis to young people and their families. Representatives of the Department can serve as advocates for youth and their families by attending school planning and placement team meetings and/or meetings at Juvenile Court. The Norwalk Department of Youth Services extends these and other services to you and welcomes your call or visit SERVICES INCLUDE COUNSELING AND REFERRAL The professional staff offers counseling and referral services for adolescents and their families. Problems frequently dealt with involve parent-child conflict, school difficlties, depression and substance abuse. PEER OUTREACH High school students participate in training to develop peer helping skills. MIDDLE SCHOOL SERVICE CLUBS This program provides leadership and decision-making training through volunteer work in the community. ELIGIBILITY: Youth aged 11 through 18 who are Norwalk residents are eligible for services. SCHOOL READINESS Early Care and Education are available for children ages 3 and 4 through sub-contracted providers. ALL SERVICES ARE FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL |
