OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
RICHARD A. MOCCIA

PRESS ADVISORY
March 21, 2007

Mayor Richard Moccia notifies residents of the following repairs to transmission lines to be performed by Connecticut Light & Power:

On Friday, March 23, 2007 between 11am and 12pm Connecticut Light & Power will perform splicing on the railroad track right of way near Charcoal Road off Highland Avenue (between Roton Middle School and Brien McMahon High School), which will create loud explosion noises that could be heard 1/2 mile away and could rattle some windows close by.

On Saturday, March 24, 2007 around 5:30pm for about 5 minutes CL&P will perform splicing on either side of the railroad bridge by the Maritime Aquarium, which will create loud explosion noises that could be heard 1/2 mile away and could rattle some windows close by.

The Norwalk Fire Department has reviewed the work plan with CL&P and is confident that all safety measures have been provided by CL&P and their contractors. The Fire Department will witness similar work being conducted in Westport on Thursday March 22 and will have Fire Department personnel monitor the work conducted in Norwalk on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24.
