City to “Remember” September 11, 2001 Victims & Heroes
Mayor Richard A. Moccia announces that on the fifth anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on the U.S., the City of Norwalk will hold a 9-11 Remembrance service Monday, September 11, 2006 at 8:30 AM at City Hall.
“Norwalk will not only be remembering our lost residents, fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, friends & neighbors but we will also remember and salute all of the “heroes” lost five years ago, to the worst terrorist attack in our Nation’s history.
The attacks on the Twin-Towers, the Pentagon, and the four hijacked planes had not only caused us as a community to grieve, but us as a nation as well, changing the world and us, forever.
The Remembrance program will be a very respectful and dignified memorial service, short on speeches, but full of music and song,” states Mayor Richard Moccia.
The program will feature inspirational words & songs performed by Greg O’Brien as well as performances by a Norwalk Police Officer and a Deputy Fire Chief. A joint Police & Fire Honor Guard unit will also take part in the program and will raise the “Flag of Honor” (a U.S. Flag with all 9-11 victims embossed on the strips.) ”
