MAYOR RICHARD MOCCIA ANNOUNCES RECOGNITION BY U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY
Norwalk MayorRichard Mocciahas announced that the Norwalk City Hall, located at 125 East Avenue,
Norwalk, CT,
has been honored with the ENERGY STAR Label issued by the
United States Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA).
The recognition is given by
the EPA to buildings with proven energy management strategies that attain
superior standards of efficient energy consumption. The ENERGY STAR award is
based on an energy performance assessment tool that evaluates 12 months of
energy consumption data, the square footage of the building, the occupancy
rate, the number of rooms and other related criteria. The EPA estimates that by
2010, the savings from energy efficient investments will reduce the annual
greenhouse gas emissions in the United States by 2.4 million tons –the
equivalent of the pollution produced by 1.7 million cars – and save taxpayers
more than $750 million per year.
“This is
a terrific achievement that demonstrates our commitment and expertise to improve
the environment while also controlling our client’s occupancy cost,” stated
Tony Miele Property Manager for Fusco Management Facility Management Service
provider for the City
of Norwalk. “The on-site team,
including Guardian Services, Jack Hughes, and Joe Schinella,
are to be congratulated”.
