Mayor Richard Moccia calls for residents to remember the courage and sacrifices of WWII Veterans

December 7,1941 - The Imperial Government of Japan attack the Hawaiian Islands causing severe damage to American naval and military forces and the deaths of 2,403 Americans; thrusting our country to enter into the participation of World War II and declaring WAR on Japan.

"65 years ago, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared December 7th as a "date which will live in infamy," and from that day forward, our country was profoundly changed. Citizens of Norwalk, like so many others around our country, demonstrated a dedication to our principles and our way of life, chose to defend and protect AMERICA from its enemies and had enlisted into military service.

These brave men and women earned the respect of all for their service during WII”, states Mayor Moccia.

Therefore I am issuing a Proclamation which calls upon all Norwalkers to observe December 7, 2006 as such a day of remembrance for those in our community who answered the call of service during World War II and that our community shall have a day of rededication and commemoration of Pearl Harbor Day.
