STATEMENT FROM MAYOR MOCCIA ON STUART AVE. DEVELOPMENT

Mayor Moccia has learned today that the developer who is planning to build condominiums on Stuart Ave. has submitted plans that do not include saving any existing houses.

“It is with sadness that I have learned today that the developer for the condo’s on Stuart Ave. have filed plans today that do not include saving any of the old houses that some residents had requested,” states Mayor Richard Moccia.

“This office worked to try and have the developer save and preserve some 3 of the houses, but it seems to no avail, “ states Mayor Moccia.

In my meetings with them, several plans were suggested that could have saved the houses, they indicated to me that they would look at the plans and return for further discussions, I am disappointed that they never fulfilled this commitment and never contacted me as promised. The Planning and Zoning Department are reviewing the plans to ensure they are in compliance with all regulations. If they are in compliance, it will be their right to remove the houses. It was not the outcome the City or neighbors had hoped for.
