Mayor Richard Moccia and Chief Denis McCarthy, after consulting with Reverend Phyllis Bolden of the Health and Safety Committee of the Common Council, announced the selection of 3D Seminars to provide Diversity Assessments and Training in the Norwalk Fire Department.
Mayor Moccia is pleased the selection process has moved quickly and that the assessments and training will begin before the end of the year. Chief McCarthy thanks members of the community and Department who have lent their time and talent to the selection process. In particular the following are recognized for their assistance: Mayor Moccia, Reverend Phyllis Bolden, Reverend Lindsay Curtis; Officer Carleton Giles, Council Member Carvin Hilliard, Personnel Director James Haselkamp and Deputy Corporation Counsel Jeffrey Spahr.
3D will provide consulting and training service to the Fire Department. The value of the contract is expected to be $9,250. Services will include focus groups sessions with all Fire Department personnel, leadership training and a final “climate assessment report.”
It is expected that the final report will be the basis for additional training
in the fire department and other municipal departments.
