OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
RICHARD A. MOCCIA

PRESS RELEASE
August 1, 2006

“As it appears that the current heat wave will last for some time, I am asking that citizens check on elderly neighbors and relatives on a regular basis. The elderly are the most vulnerable in this heat,” states Mayor Richard Moccia.

While it is important that all persons use caution in dealing with the heat, I would urge that the elderly try to limit their activities and stay in doors in a cool environment if possible.

I am also advising that if any person needs relief from the heat that our Police Station on One Monroe Street will be available from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. for as long as this heat wave continues.
