Office of Mayor Richard
A. Moccia
PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release December 5, 2005
Mayor get’s city’s first “Green” All-Wheel Drive Mayor Moccia gets the keys of a new Hybrid all-wheel drive vehicle. Getting nearly twice the MPG of the previous Mayor’s car, the city will not only save money on fuel cost but in selecting an all-wheel drive vehicle, the Mayor will now be able to drive himself around town when inclement weather hits Norwalk. “In the past, Mayor’s had to rely on the Police Department to become a chauffeur for the Mayor during storms or inclement weather. Now with an all-wheel drive vehicle, I am able to keep the police officers where they belong, on the streets protecting all of us, instead of becoming my personal driver,” states Mayor Richard A. Moccia. “Not only are the police now free to be the officers we need, by selecting a hybrid, the City will be saving on fuel costs. The Hybird that was selected is able to get nearly twice the MPG of a standard car. I am pleased that Norwalk is setting the example for other towns to follow by going “Green,” states Mayor Richard A. Moccia. The vehicle was ordered by the Norwalk Police Department allowing the Mayor’s old vehicle to become a detective’s car and reducing the number of cars the Police Department will be budgeting next year.
