TAX PAYMENT INFORMATION POLICY: CITY OF NORWALK, CT

For taxpayers requesting tax payment information for income tax or other purposes: INFORMATION WILL BE RESEARCHED AFTER HOURS AND PROVIDED TO YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. WE DO NOT WORK ON TAX PAYMENT INFORMATION REQUESTS UNTIL ALL OTHER OFFICE WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

  1. Requests must be in writing, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  2. Requests should be specific as to name(s), address, and property description.
  3. Request must include a telephone number where someone can be reached in case there is a question .
  4. There is a charge of $15 per request, payable up front. The Tax Collector’s office operates on a fiscal year (July to June) rather than calendar year (Jan. to Dec.). These requests involve research into the prior fiscal year’s records. Due to this, as well as the volume of requests, and the fact that many taxpayers fail to claim their information once the research has been done, we now require payment up front.
  5. Information will be mailed back to you. If you wish to pick up your information at the Tax Collector’s Office, our regular business hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
