Licenses to hunt, trap or fish, or any combination of these, are issued by the Office of the Town Clerk. Applications are available during regular business hours.

Hunting licenses may only be issued to a person who has held a resident license to hunt with firearms within five years from the date of the application OR presents a certificate of competency issued after the completion of the required course in safe hunting practices and the use of hunting weapons. (A minor, ages 12-15, may hunt with firearms or bows if such minor holds a junior firearms hunting or junior archery license, and is accompanied by a person over 18 years of age.)

HUNTING LICENSES

The following Sportsmen’s licenses are available at the Town Clerk’s office:

Firearms Hunting *   $14.00 (Resident)
$67.00 (Non-Resident)
Junior Firearms Hunting* (ages 12-15) $ 3.00 (Res. & Non-Res.)
Firearms Hunting & Fishing* $28.00 (Resident)
$88.00 (Non-Resident)
Lifetime License* (over 65) FREE -----(Must show Driver's License)
Trapping* $25.00 (Resident)
$200.00 (Non-Resident)
Junior Trapping* (ages 15 and under) $3.00

*Prior hunting license not more than 5 years old OR proof of successful completion of the Connecticut Conservation Education/Firearms course must be presented in order to get these licenses.

Archery & Junior Archery Licenses are available only from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT  06106

Applications for deer and turkey hunting permits are available at the Town Clerk’s office and at the DEP. The permits are issued by the DEP.

Pheasant Tags (10 tags) $14.00.
Pheasant Tags are issued to anyone possessing a valid firearms or archery license.

Conn. Migratory Bird Stamp $10.00.
Migratory Bird Stamps are available to applicants 16 years of age or older.

Conn. HIP Permit $2.00.
Migratory Bird Harvest Information Program (H.I.P.): Persons hunting ducks, geese, brant, woodcock, rails, snipes and coots are required to obtain a HIP permit from the Town Clerk.

Federal Migratory Bird Stamp $15.00

FISHING LICENSES

Fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 years of age or older. They are available from the Town Clerk.

Resident Fishing $20.00
Lifetime (over 65) FREE
Non-Resident (season) $40.00
Non-Resident (3-day) $16.00

**Persons who are over 65 years of age or handicapped may qualify for licenses at no charge.
