The registrars' office, located in Room 122 of City Hall, is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To vote in the Nov. 6 election, residents may register in person there until Oct. 30, on which day the office will remain open until 8 p.m. Those wishing to register by mail must have their applications postmarked by Tuesday October 23rd. The cutoff for mail in voter registration is Tuesday, October 23rd.

To register, a resident must be a United States citizen and at least 18 years old by Election Day.

Those who are unsure if they are registered can call the registrars' office at 854-7996.

Absentee ballots are available for registered voters who cannot go to the polls because of active service in the armed forces, illness, disability, absence from the city on Election Day, religious tenets, or duties as a primary, election or referendum official at a polling place other than their own during all hours of voting. Voters may apply in English or Spanish for absentee ballots at the town clerk's office in Room 102 at City Hall or by downloading the form from the secretary of the state's Web site at www.sots.ct.gov/ElectionsServices/electforms/aabeng.pdf.
