B. REMARKS

The mayor announced that the City of Norwalk had been presented with a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for the year 2000. He presented this to Richard Darling in the absence of Jack Miller.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT ADDED ITEM TO AGENDA THAT WAS POSTPONED FROM THE SEPT. 19,2001 MEETING: Report from the Special Public Works Committee Meeting held on September 5, 2001 and approve the resolution regarding Northeast Utilities' proposal to replace the submarine cable between Northport, NY and the modifications of existing transmission lines between the Plumtree Substation in Bethel, CT. and the Norwalk Substation in Norwalk, CT.

    1. FINANCE

    1. Authorize the release of three months' fund ($75,617.00) for N.E.O.N. Administrative Overhead for the quarter October 1, 2001 to December 31, 2001.

This is based on the $302,469.00 approved by the Board of Estimate & Taxation.

The funds are to be released monthly based on the quarterly allocation.

B. RECREATION AND PARKS & CULTURAL AFFAIRS

1. Approve as a technical correction the date for the 8th Annual Jack Rabbit Run Fall

Classic from September 23, 2001 to October 7, 2001. APPROVED

2. Approve the use of Taylor Farm by the Norwalk Exchange Club for their annual

Antique Auto Show April 28, 2002 and May 5 as a rain - date from 9:00am -5:00pm. Set up would take place on Saturday April 2927THAttendance 1000+

3. Authorize the Mayor, Frank J. Esposito, to execute an agreement with the Connecticut Volkswagen Association and the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America for their annual 2002 Northeast Classic Volkswagen Festival at Cranbury Park on Sunday June 2, 2002 from 7:00am-4:00pm. Estimated attendance 500+ AUTHORIZED

4a.Authorize the Mayor, Frank J. Esposito, to execute a contract with Norwalk Marine Contractors, Inc. for the Clark Fishing Pier repair project in the amount not to exceed $26,692.00.Acct. No. 09016030 5777 C0069 AUTHORIZED

 

4b. Authorize the Acting Director of Department of Recreation and Parks to issue change orders on contract for a total not to exceed $2,669.00. AUTHORIZED

C. ORDINANCE COMMITTEE

    1. 1. Adoption of Amendment to Chapter 59B: Housing Site Development Agency.
    2. ADOPTED

    D. LAND USE & BUILDING MANAGEMENT

    1. Authorize the Mayor, Frank J. Esposito, to execute any and all documents necessary for the acceptance of donation of the Rogers-Ritch-Merritt Housse at 35 Chapel Street from Commerce Street LLC (Don Capone and Lou Capone). Structure to be relocated off site by the city. AUTHORIZED

  2. Glastonbury Restoration Company to dismantle, catalog, store and transport the Rogers-Ritch-Merritt House for an amount not to exceed $50,000. Acct. number to be established. AUTHORIZED

3a. Authorize the Mayor, Frank J. Esposito, to execute any and all documents

necessary to apply for and accept reimbursable grant funds from Connecticut Historical Commission under the Historic Preservation Grant Program, for an amount not to exceed $60,000 AUTHORIZED

3b. Authorize the Mayor, Frank J. Esposito, to execute any and all agreements, documents, instruments or amendments thereto as may be necessary to implement the Historic Preservation Grant Program, pursuant to the above Connecticut Historical Commission funding. AUTHORIZED

4. Authorize the Mayor Frank J. Esposito, to execute an amendment to extend the

contract with Schindler Elevator Corporation for one (1) year to provide Elevator Maintenance Service for City Hall and various buildings for a total not to exceed $15,600.00 Account # - Various Accounts. AUTHORIZED

5a. Authorize the Mayor, Frank J. Esposito, to execute an agreement with George Ellis Company of New Haven, Inc. to furnish all necessary labor and materials to install an air atomizing gas/oil burner at Ben Franklin Center, 165 Flax Hill Road, Norwalk Connecticut at a cost not to exceed $26,450.00 Acct.#09007100 5777 C0173. AUTHORIZED

5b Authorize the Office of Building Management to issue change orders on contract for an amount not to exceed $2,640.00 Acct. #09007100 5777 C0173.
