    On September 23, 2014, the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency, the administrator of the City of Norwalk’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, will host a Public Hearing at 6:00pm in Norwalk City Hall, room A330, to discuss issues relating to housing and community development in Norwalk, including discrimination. This public hearing is included in the process of developing a new 5-year Consolidated Plan (for housing and community development) and work on the Analysis of Impediments (to fair housing choice) which will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in May, 2015. These documents will have a direct bearing on how the City chooses to allocate CDBG funding for the next five years. Persons unable to attend the hearing are encouraged to submit written comments for the record no later than 5:00pm on September 22, 2014 to kpacchiana@norwalkct.org.     The Norwalk Health Department Farmers Market is back! Starting this Wednesday, July 2, Norwalk community members can get fresh, locally grown produce each Wednesday in the Health Department parking lot (137 East Avenue) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market will run until November 5. Health experts recommend that we get five servings of fruits and vegetables every day, and summertime is a great season for fresh produce. Killam and Bassette Farmstead (South Glastonbury, CT) will bring a variety of fruits and vegetables for purchase at the market again this year. They accept cash, credit, Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers. Space is available for additional vendors offering healthy foods.
