Protective orders in a family violence
situation are criminal and are issued after the accused has been arrested for
committing a family violence crime.
Restraining orders are civil and issued to
protect victims of family violence from threats or further harm.
Both of these orders must be issued by the
court. Further information can be found by contacting Norwalk Superior
Court Family Division at 17 Belden
Avenue (203) 847-5825 and/or your attorney.
If you are the victim of family violence, or
the victim of a violated order, contact the Police Department and request that
an officer respond.
