Emergency Alert
Identification Unit
The Identification Unit is responsible for maintaining records for all persons arrested by the Norwalk Police Department. Each year, the unit is responsible for cataloging the personal data, fingerprints, and photographs of over 3,400 persons arrested by the department. They also provide background checks and fingerprinting services for the public.

Crime Scene Processing
In addition, the unit also provides crime evidence processing at most major incidents which occur in the city. The unit is utilized at over a dozen such scenes each year that require special processing techniques or equipment.

The unit gathers evidence and processes scenes using some of the most state-of-the-art equipment available, including a specialized laser used for locating trace evidence and fingerprints. The unit is often called upon by other jurisdictions for consultation on a variety of cases and has assisted departments state-wide in processing crime scenes.
