Old Business
DENVER CALEA CONFERENCE: Lt. Pete Agnesi and Sgt. Tom Kulhawik reported on the conference in Denver.
Next conference in Montreal will be a four day conference
Future Annual CALEA Agency reports will require submission of selected department reports, such as Use of Force Analysis, etc.
On-site critiques from September 98 were positive
Phone in sessions during on-sites can be scheduled for Mondays
State Accreditation Committee working to create on-going positive relationship with State Certification/Accreditation programs.
Committee working to complete plan by years end, which may include tiered structure for CALEA, which would be similar to Connecticut program.
New Business
Officer Paul Gilligan, Manchester PD, reported he contacted the State concerning destruction of old CALEA files. Retention schedule has been amended to allow these files to be destroyed after three years of next accreditation, whichever is later.
State Accreditation
Second tier of standards are complete, expect them out in 4-6 weeks. Committee has recommended hiring an Executive Director to oversee program. Funding sources are being sought, which may include the Legislative action, Grants, etc.
Committee is seeking assessors for State program. Interested individuals should submit resume along with cover letter detailing why they want to participate as an assessor to: Deputy Chief Ray Bouchard, Enfield Police Department, 297 Elm Street, Enfield, CT 06082. Target Date of June for Assessor Training.
Final tiers being looked at. Expect a total of 382 State Standards when completed.
