CALEA State Accreditation Task Force: D.C. Ray Bouchard reported on his Task Force meeting held in Virginia.
CALEA looking to add Certification level with 95 core standards applicable to all agencies. States with their own accreditation/certification programs may form alliance with CALEA. Departments from states without a state program may certify directly with CALEA. States would pay an administrative fee to be determined and sign into agreement with CALEA. State and CALEA would agree to cooperate and mutually assist each other. CALEA would assist with training, materials, information etc. and allow departments receiving state certification, automatic national certification through CALEA provide that standards are the same as CALEAs in the core area. On-site would be conducted by two local assessors and one CALEA assessor from outside the state. States maintain control of local process. States in agreement would receive position on future standards review committees.
Committee to meet again in July. Forward comments or questions to D.C. Ray Bouchard prior to July.
State Program Assessors: Those interested must send brief resume to D.C. Bouchard at Enfield Police. Training will be conducted in September.
