Standards Discussion

Two new standards passed out - 41.2.7 - Missing Children and 6.9.6 - Incident Command System. Discussion took place regarding both standards. 41.2.7 - Why new standard? Can we revise current standard and add new language. Definition of a "thrown-away child"? Regarding 6.9.6 - Communications Accreditation Standard. PAC members are encouraged to send in comments for the next meeting regarding both standards, which will be submitted to CALEA by May 30th. No objection to 6.9.6. 41.2.7 is redundant, covered in missing persons and juvenile standards. D.C. Bouchard will respond to CALEA on behalf of the PAC.

P.D’s in Self-assessment & On-Sites

Bethel P.D., Bristol P.D., Trumbull P.D., Newtown P.D., Shelton P.D. & Meriden P.D. have signed contracts and are in self-assessment. New Canaan had their Mock on-site in April with an On-site scheduled for August.

Report on Farmington P.D. on-site in April went well. Linda thanked those who responded to the public information portion. Discussed the quality and inconsistency of assessor’s interpretations during on-sites. Suggestion made that CALEA should be asked to make assessor training more uniform so that all assessors standard interpretations are consistent.

She will gather this information from the PAC in order to set up a training possibly in September. I have also emailed her the CALEA standards on victim/witness services in order for her to help departments with their compliance with these standards.
