Meeting called to order at 9:30am

CALEA

Judicial Marshalls Accredited at Boston Conference

Training at Boston conference went well

APPENDIX G: Ref: Proofs of Compliance, File Construction and Mail Off standards distributed and available

ALLIANCES: Committee reviewed the Alliance program and made recommendations on the Alliance program with states. Changes in Alliance program may prohibit Connecticut from participating in Alliance program. Examples of changes include restricting partners to core standards. Standards must be verbatim to CALEA's. CALEA assessors must be used for onsites. Final state reports must be sent to Commission. Complete list of recommendations are attached.

Fifth Edition: Reviewed all proposed changes in CALEA Standards and will submit comments. Overall there will be significant changes in several standards. (EX: Collective Bargaining issues may be prohibitive for agencies attempting CALEA accreditation or reaccredidation. New Specific standards on individual crimes such as ID Theft being proposed. Mandated training to public on homeland security would be undue burden on agencies. Property inspections may require as much as 10% of property to be audited, which would be an undue burden for large agencies with large property rooms.) Fifth Edition to be brought forth and finalized at November conference and could be in place as early as July 1, 2006.

STATE ACCREDITATION

ALLIANCE WITH CALEA; See above

Review committee is done. Overall reduction in state standards to 330+/-. Final review will take place and product to be discussed at October meeting.

Current Training classes are now receiving accreditation training as past of basic recruit curriculum.

One Day Conference still being planned.

MISCELLANEOUS

November meeting change: November meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 10th at 11:00am hosted by East Hartford Police. Lunch will be provided. Tour of new facility will be available.

Next meeting is scheduled for October 12th at 9:30 a.m. at POST - Meriden.
