Q: HOW ARE INSPECTIONS GOING TO BE HANDLED IN NORWALK?

A: THE OFFICE OF THE ASSESSOR HAS OPTED TO INSPECT PROPERTIES ON AN ONGOING BASIS. THIS OFFICE HAS IMPLEMENTED A POLICY WHEREBY WE WILL FIRST ATTEMPT TO CONDUCT COMPLETE INSPECTIONS OF PROPERTIES WHERE BUILDING PERMITS HAVE BEEN ISSUED AND PROPERTIES THAT HAVE RECENTLY SOLD. WE HAVE SELECTED THESE TWO CATEGORIES BECAUSE TOGETHER THEY COMPRISE MORE THAN 2,500 PROPERTIES PER YEAR, I.E., 30,000 PROPERTIES IN A TWELVE YEAR PERIOD. THERE ARE LESS THAN 29,000 PARCELS/PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF NORWALK. ALL OTHER PROPERTIES WILL BE INSPECTED ON A CYCLICAL BASIS.
