Chief Thomas E. Kulhawik was appointed Chief of the Norwalk Police Department on July 11, 2012. He has served with the Norwalk Police Department since 1983, beginning his career as a patrol officer. Chief Kulhawik was promoted to Detective in 1987, Sergeant in 1995, Lieutenant in 2000, and Deputy Chief in 2007. He has worked in all aspects of the department including patrol, narcotics, general investigations, and community policing. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He is an Assessor and Team Leader for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., President of the Connecticut Police Accreditation Coalition and Treasurer for the Norwalk Police Activities League, Inc. He is also a member of the Police Officers Standards & Training Council as well as a member of the Connecticut Sentencing Commission.
