CodeRED call from January 14, 2021:
Attention Norwalk Residents, this is Mayor Harry Rilling with an important update on COVID-19. To hear this message in Spanish, Press 9.
I know there are a lot of questions regarding the vaccine, especially from our seniors. Currently, the State of Connecticut is in Phase 1A of vaccine distribution, and is slowly transitioning into Phase 1B. Health care workers, medical first responders, and now, those over the age of 75, are eligible to be vaccinated. Employers of eligible workers can submit information into the CDC Vaccine Administration Management System, otherwise known as VAMS, for their employees to be vaccinated. If you believe you are eligible, but you haven’t received an email from VAMS, contact your employer.
Those 75 years of age or older can also register themselves in VAMS. Once registered, you will receive an email from VAMS with a link to set up an account and make an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Links to register for VAMS can be found on our website, norwalkct.org.
VAMS is a federal registration system and will show available appointments for eligible residents across the state. Norwalk residents who are eligible may sign up for any open slot in Connecticut.
The Norwalk Health Department, Norwalk Hospital, and community health care providers are distributing vaccines. These provider’s appointment slots will appear in VAMS. As more vaccine is received from the State, additional appointments will be made available.
With information moving incredibly fast, and changing almost daily, we have created a new COVID-19 Vaccine Information and Resource Hub.
Visit norwalkct.org/vaccine for the latest news and information, including links to register for VAMS.
Please, stay safe Norwalk.
