Youth Services
Counseling
Norwalk Youth Services is operated for the purposes of evaluation, planning, coordination, and implementation of prevention and treatment services for youth. It also provides the opportunity for youth to develop positively in order to function as responsible members of the community.
The Department offers counseling and referral services on a voluntary, confidential, no-cost basis to young people and their families. Representatives of the Youth Services Department can serve as advocates for youth and their families by attending school planning and placement team meetings and/or meetings at Juvenile Court.
Counseling services are available to youth, ages 11 to 18, and their families who reside in Norwalk.
Juvenile Justice
The Norwalk Juvenile Review Board is a Court diversion program whose intent is to keep juveniles out of the Juvenile and eventually Adult Court systems. This is accomplished through services, case management, and coordination with local Schools, Police, and other State and Community Agencies.
The Town of Westport currently contracts with the City of Norwalk to use the Norwalk Juvenile Review Board and related services.
