Flu Shots

You can take a few simple steps to protect yourself and the people around you from the flu:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water
  • Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough
  • Stay home if you feel sick
  • Get your flu shot from the Norwalk Health Department!
Everyone older than 6 months old is recommended to get a flu shot every year.

The Health Department will hold two large clinics to provide seasonal flu shots to the public in 2018:
  • Thursday, October 11, 10 am to 12 pm
  • Tuesday, October 16, 5 pm to 7 pm
For those people who cannot attend these community clinics, the Health Department will be open for walk-in hours on Thursdays, from 1 pm – 3 pm, beginning October 18, while supplies last. Please note that the Health Department is closed on on Federal holidays.

All clinics will be held at the Health Department (137 East Avenue, Norwalk), and no appointment is necessary.

Standard seasonal flu shots cost $25 per person. The high-dose flu vaccine, available to clients age 65 and older, costs $50 per person. Both types of flu shots are covered by Medicare Part B, Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, ConnectiCare, and United. Please bring all your insurance cards with you. Otherwise, we accept cash, check, and credit cards for payment.

Worksite Flu Clinics

In addition to flu clinics that are open to the public, the Health Department also provides flu clinics at worksites for employers who want to provide this valuable benefit to their employees. Call for details.
