Join Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling on June 16 to help plan the future of healthy and safe walking routes in Norwalk

Members of the public are encouraged to attend this free event co-sponsored by the Arts Commission and Bike/Walk Commission

(Norwalk, Conn.) – On Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 8:30 a.m., join Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, Mrs. Lucia Rilling, and members of the Arts Commission and Bike/Walk Commission to help plan future walking routes in Norwalk. The two-mile walk begins at the Merritt 7 railroad station on Glover Avenue, with options to shorten the walk. Those who join the Mayor will have the opportunity to evaluate walkability in Norwalk.

“I hope residents will join us for this walk as we continue to promote safe and healthy living in our city,” said Mayor Harry Rilling. “I look forward to working with the Arts Commission and Bike/Walk Commission in an effort to expand safe, accessible routes for our residents to use for leisure activities.”

During the walk, participants will be able to view the Charles Perry sculptures at the Merritt 7 office complex and field test the newly proposed walkability route through a unique neighborhood. Participation in the Mayor's Walk will help assess the walk plan before it’s accessible to the general public.

The Mayor’s Walk will take place on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Merritt 7 Railroad Station, 1 Glover Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850. Members of the public are encouraged to attend this free community event.
