James Street Bridge Closure Beginning 2/25/19


James Street Bridge over the Silvermine River

Dear Residents & Property Owners,

The City of Norwalk, under the State Project #102-320 - Rehabilitation of James Street Bridge over the Silvermine River, will be fully closing the James Street Bridge and implementing a Detour Route, beginning February 25th, 2019, for the demolition and replacement of the bridge. The detour will be in effect for a period of time not expected to exceed 252 days. Through-traffic will be redirected onto Perry Avenue/Main Avenue/Broad Street/Silvermine Avenue. Local traffic to properties accessed via James Street must enter James Street from Perry Avenue, for properties north of the bridge, or from Silvermine Avenue, for properties south of the Bridge. Please refer to the diagram below for the detour route.

Please drive slowly through the area, anticipate delays, and plan your day accordingly. If you have any questions, please call Customer Service at 203-854-3200 during their business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.
