Strawberry Hill Avenue between King Street and County Street has Reopened to Traffic; Pipe repaired

(Norwalk, Conn.) Today, June 16th, Mayor Rilling announced that as of 5:00 AM Strawberry Hill Avenue between King Street and County Street has reopened to traffic following a pipe being repaired after the rupture of a sanitary sewer yesterday afternoon.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone,” said Mayor Harry Rilling. “I want to thank the Department of Public Works, Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), and Veolia (WPCA’s contract operator) who worked diligently and swiftly to repair the sanitary sewer since yesterday afternoon. They kept us on track and we greatly appreciate their efforts.”

There were no issues reported at the Westport Avenue pump station which has now been placed back into service.

Furthermore, the roadway milling and paving in the affected section of Strawberry Hill Avenue will be done over the next few weeks to allow time for the material to settle before the Department of Public Works completes the permanent roadway restoration process.
