Mayor Richard Moccia has declared a State of Emergency in Norwalk, and the City has activated its Emergency Operations Center. Norwalk Public Schools have been closed for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Residents in low-lying flood-prone areas are encouraged to evacuate now. Two Command Posts have been established to assist with evacuations. The Emergency Shelter is now open at Brien McMahon High School (300 Highland Avenue). The shelter will remain open until further notice for overnight shelter, showers, breakfast, dinner, and charging electronic devices. If you have special health care needs and require support such as oxygen or home health care services, please contact your health care provider to tell them of your evacuation, so that they know how to reach you for services.

The Waste Water (sewage) plant may be flooded and could be shut down. If this occurs, residents will be notified via the Notify Norwalk Code Red system not to flush toilets or run dishwashers or washing machines.
